CHOREOGRAPHY

© Lea Lorenz

I am an aspiring choreographer. In the future I plan to establish a performing arts company that produces unique, influential, and high-quality performing arts, together with my sister and colleague Mia Lorenz.

I have always had a strong urge to create. Simply observing people and life around me is an infinite well of inspiration. I have the ability to hear and see stories in music. In my choreographic works I touch on deep topics and themes and invite people to join the process and reflect on life. The world around me is complex and often full of pain and I have a powerful calling for bringing meaning, healing and light to it. There is such a beauty to be found.

The main base of my choreographies is classical and neoclassical ballet, but in addition I use elements of contemporary dance, musical theater, acrobatics, folk dance, body percussion and vocals. Humor and comedy are also an important part of my toolkit. I am fascinated by combining dance with different forms of art, writing (like phrases or stories) and technology (like audio recordings) and collaborating with other artists. Out-of-the-box performance styles (like immersive performances), costumes and set design intrigue me. I love to experiment and surprise. In my thesis Sielunhoidollinen tanssiteos (2022) at Oulu University of Applied Sciences I researched the possibility of combining Christian counselling with choreography and dance therapy.
